Welcome to Manhattan Society.com where our passion, our mission, a social addiction of sorts........  is covering the people, places and things of social, cultural and charitable significance in New York City, with a focus on the Island of Manhattan. Come on a journey with us, take a peek inside the urban mosaic which comprises Manhattan, the undercurrent and those who are shaping the fabric of Post 9/11 New York City.  Sometimes we will take their photo, sometimes we will share a cocktail, interview, or tell you about conversations we have with them.    PHOTO (edited):  The photo above was provided by David Noble, a photographer in the UK who provided it for use of the Twin Towers Alliance, a grassroots organization committed to rebuilding what in our estimation ought to be rebuilt downtown. We recommend you click on the photo above to visit their site and sign the petition. IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO DO THE RIGHT THING. VOTE TO REBUILD!! SIGN THE PETITION.

THE GUARDIAN ANGELS Annual Gala Dinner Dance, “Keeping it Safe”: Each day, hundreds of thousands of kids are afraid to go to school. What can we do to ensure that our schools and our neighborhoods are safe places for kids?  What can we do, as a community, to help keep kids out of trouble? A major way to protect kids from rising numbers of threats is through education, with initiatives focused on character development, anti-bullying, gang resistance, and how to protect against Internet threats.  Bullying, gangs, cyberbullying and other Internet threats are serious problems attracting national attention from the media, law enforcement, government, businesses, schools and parents (”Generation GAP? Online Gap Widens Divide Between Parents & Children,” Science Daily, 02/05/08, “New effort to protect kids online,” CNNMondey.com, 01/14/08, “Online bullying, suicide raise concerns for parents,” Allentown Morning Call, PA, 01/20/08). YOU can be part of a community-wide solution to protect our youth by extending your support to The Guardian Angels, a non-profit organization dedicated to: Keeping the environments where kids learn and grow safe from crime and violence. Offering educational programs, solutions and alternatives to schools, parents, and students and empowering students to become productive, contributing role models.  Please support our organization’s major fundraising event for this year, an evening of entertainment and special celebrity guests.
